5 Must-Visit Art Galleries in Mexico City
1. Kurimanzutto (San Miguel Chapultepec)
Founded in 1999 by Mónica Manzutto and José Kuri, with support from artist Gabriel Orozco, Kurimanzutto is one of the most influential contemporary art galleries in Latin America. Art Review has highlighted it as Mexico’s most prominent gallery. Its early days were bold and experimental—exhibiting in markets and warehouses—before settling into its current iconic space.

2. Galería OMR (Roma Norte)
Since 1983, OMR has been a key platform for both emerging and established national and international artists, including Pia Camil, José Dávila, and Candida Höfer. Recognized as one of Mexico City’s “blue-chip” galleries, OMR regularly participates in major art fairs such as Zona Maco, Art Basel, and Frieze. He also co-founded Lago Algo, a free cultural space blending art, architecture, and gastronomy in Chapultepec.

3. Museo Jumex (Polanco)
Opened in 2013, Museo Jumex is a laboratory of contemporary art under the Fundación Jumex Arte Contemporáneo. Designed by British architect David Chipperfield, the building itself is an architectural gem, with naturally lit exhibition halls, multipurpose rooms, and an open ground floor integrated into public space. It has become a leading hub for innovation in Mexico’s art scene.
4. Galería Hilario Galguera (Roma)
Since opening in 2006, this gallery has stood out for its international focus and bold exhibitions, including Damien Hirst’s first show in Latin America. It has built a reputation for combining local and global perspectives, presenting carefully curated works by both Mexican and international artists.

5. LABOR (San Miguel Chapultepec)
Founded by Pamela Echeverría—former curator at OMR—LABOR has become known for blending beauty with political, historical, and technological art. Exhibitions such as Bread & Roses reflect on the tension between destruction and creation, featuring powerful works by artists like Santiago Sierra and Jill Magid.
